Countybank Dumped My Interest Rate. Now What?
In March, Countybank cut my interest rate a little on my Kasasa reward checking account, but after shopping around, I decided it wasn't worth the hassle to switch banks. While researching, I found Danversbank, and marked them as my first choice for rewards checking should Countybank finally crap out.
Well, Countybank brutally cut my interest rate on my Kasasa checking account last month. Now, I'm happily at Danversbank. The only difference in the rewards requirements is that I need 12 debit card transactions instead of ten. Hey, no problem. I'm right back at a 4% interest rate, and glad of it.

After being offered a rent freeze, and unwilling to compromise for a lower quality apartment, I decided to stay another year. See other tips on getting the most bang for ...

Local banks can be pretty volatile at times, particularly in tough economic times. You have the option of switching to a larger bank, but you run the risk of having poor customer service. It's definitely a trade-off.
