I Made a $10 Profit Buying Contact Lenses

I was in desperate need of contact lenses.  I use Acuvue 2, since I find all others are blurry.  Four boxes cost $153 with tax (free shipping) from 1-800Contacts.com.  I searched for a coupon, but no luck.  Fortunately, there was a sale which automatically knocked $24 off the order, bringing the total to $129.

Just as I was about to complete the transaction, I remembered that I belong to Mr. Rebates.  I went to their site, and found they offered 6% cash back at 1-800Contacts.  Yes, please!  I used my 2% cash back Schwab Visa as well.  My total cash back will be $10.33.

So, how did I make a profit?  I have a health fund, like a HSA, but instead of MY money, it has employer money in it.  I can use it for out-of-pocket medical expenses not covered by my regular insurance:  co-pays, medicine, and supplies like contact lenses.  The fund has enough to pay the full amount ($129) for the contacts, and I'll pocket the $10.33 in cash back!
