Get Drunk Brunch at Angelina's Ristorante
My coworkers and I got together for a Get Drunk Brunch on Sunday, our day off. It was up to me to put the outing together, cheaply. I picked Angelina's Ristorante in Lakeview because of their champagne brunch: one brunch item + bottomless mimosa for $20.
We each had excellent food and four mimosas each. Get Drunk Brunch, indeed! Not that there weren't problems worth complaint:
1) Angelina's was overbooked. By a lot. We were seated 30 minutes after our reservation.
2) No crowd control. The bar was three people deep. People were plugging up the aisles, causing mayhem for the wait staff. And, they were still allowing walk-ins.
3) No hospitality in exchange for our inconvenience. No comped drinks during the wait. No comped dessert after our meal.
4) By far the worst issue was the volume of the music. It was like being at a club on a sun-filled, Sunday morning. Wrong and unpleasant. It was so loud, the waiter had trouble hearing our orders. All of us were first-timers at Angelina's, and were told by the staff that they wouldn't turn it down, because the music is always that loud, and the patrons expect it.
It was great food, plenty of alcohol, and a good value. Just don't expect to have a conversation.
