A Tip Jar... For Yourself

Whenever I have loose change, I put it in my change jar.  Most of us have used this very common trick for saving money, even if it was when we had a piggy bank!

This month, my jar was finally full, nearly exactly a year from the last time.  I took it to my bank.  Grand total:  $59.66!

My mother always encouraged me to keep a penny jar when I was a kid - and I did so. My father always encouraged me to regularly put the pennies in a savings account, which I also did. These two things taught me direct finance and how to save and deal with interest - and it's no surprise that I now work with a bank (ShoreBank: http://shorebankdirect.sbk.com/) I should mention that ShoreBank currently has a HYSA with 3.5% interest AND we're local to Chicago and have a 35-year history of local community improvement projects.
